I went to Montana in search of mead (and to visit with friends) a couple weeks ago, and was pleased to stumble across an unknown mead!

Little Willow Winery, somewhere in the mountains near Highwoods,  MT makes a dry mead. They’re not open for sales yet, but I have hopes they will be someday!

The mead they let me try was just a bit cloudy (they don’t filter), and had just a tiny bit of sparkle. The legs were fairly slow, unusual for a dryer mead. The nose was very strong honey, and the taste followed through with a very strong honey mouth, fading to a tingly feeling and a warm honey finish. The mead was a bit young, but the taste I got promised a bright future for this particular batch. A bit of age, and it will be truly excellent.

The mead was made with central Montana wildflower honey. 

Watch for this one, if they *do* go commercial, you want to buy it. I don’t generally like dry meads, but this one caught my attention.
