Using the calc to figure out the ABV of my coffee mead.

Using FF3.6.3 Linux i686 via a XWin session through PuTTy and XMing

Putting in the OG and FG the calculation is off by several percent, showing 11.97% ABV when I know it should be in the 17% range.

Not really that huge of a deal, but interesting to note that the calculator seems to be off using this combination

Are you using the little green box labeled "Potential Alcohol Conversion"?
When I put your numbers in, it gives me 17.25% ABV - sounds about right.

Yeah, I checked over the boxes several times, tried the drop-downs several times and it keeps coming up with the same wrong number. I'm guessing that since this is a small java app it has something more to do with the way that FF on linux handles the computations. The underlying linux that it's running on is Fedora 13 in a VMWare instance

Our client support is geared for Windows. Other O/S's are at your own risk.

I will try it on my Linux box at home (Ubuntu & FF 4?).

It is Javascript, so SHOULD be the same regardless of platform and browser.

I haven't had any problems with Kubuntu 10.10 or 11.04 using either FF or Chrome when compared to using it with Windows (work).

Works for me - LUbuntu 11 and FF4.01

Only thing I can think of (if it isn't some obscure bug) is that you didn't click on the background or some other field to force it to re-calculate.
