I am Canadian as are several others. I think its really important that each country and region holds regular events. Not every body wants to travel say 500 miles (or can) plus getting anything across the border into the USA is very problematic since 9/11. Its far easier to Take things (mead) from the USA into Canada. For all intents and porposes, Canada breaks down into five major geograhic regions. Western Canada (BC & Alberta), The Praries (Saskatchewan and Manitoba) Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritimes. Im a big proponent of my Scottish heritage and its relationship to mead but other posts have quite rightly pointed out that its more about the product. As such picking dates times and venues in a creative manner that exposes mead in a strong positive light are very important. I travel extensively through out BC and Alberta. I would be happy answer any questions regarding various sites and cities, making sure the aren't other major events at the same time and generally helping where I can.
That being said, how about you international folks start sending me info on whats going on in *your* neck of the woods? I'd like to hear about meaderies, available place to buy or drink mead, honey sources, and of course, competitions. I recently received an email from a reader in Poland giving me a meadery and a honey source to add, and then a few days later, an email from *another*, this time a Polish meadery.
I know I'm missing *scads* of info outside the US, partly due to language issues (thanks, Oskaar for all the info on Croation use of the words 'honey' and 'mead'!), and partly due to the fact that many smaller locations, or those in small towns just aren't on the internet.
So, send me info. I'm going to be spending more and more time on updating and upgrading Gotmead from here on out, with the expectation that I'll be FULL TIME working on Gotmead by the end of September, so bring it on!
challenge accepted! Will gather up info, though AFAIK there is no organised mead gathering here. It is mainly covered by www.camra.org, which mainly focusses on keeping real ales alive and strong, as well as opposing pub closures. We have recently liberalised our drinking laws here, effectively allowing 24 hour drinking depending on local council approval of licencing.
Honey production is a very popular asppect, and has been picked up on with the tourism and also the organics and farmers market movement. Will look up a load of other organisations later on this week. I myself am now moving into beekeeping to ensure my own source of honey.
OK, a suggestion here: There are *way* too many posts on this durn thing for me to keep track of. Post here, but *please* copy me at firstname.lastname@example.org, so I can put all the info in the 'stack'. I have email categories set up for all GM stuff, and with the volume of info I hope to get, I don't want to risk missing a thing!
That was just a small amount. I hope to add more as time goes by. Mead tends to be tied in to either honey producers or local winemaking, rather than stand alone production. Hence I'll be posting up various local food and drink websites in future, in a not too disguised tourist attempt
There are only a handful of people making mead regularly here in Israel; no meaderies, clubs, or competitions. The beekeeper I approached about starting a class says he's too busy with his regular activities... argh... :'(

Our little Meadworks Brewing Club (in Vancouver BC) is coming along nicely, though it's hard to always keep the website up to date. Incidentally, Bob and Dana at Tugwell Creek Meadery (that you noted in your post) have joined Moderator Dan Small, Canadian Rock Icon (I kid not) and Brewing Supply Owner to be the club forums moderators.

I think I am the only mead maker around here, and may be farther.
Two years ago start my meadery´s construction, last year was a learning year for me, beause I use to make 5 gallons batches and is not the same, make two 60 gallons batches at the same time is different, believe me, the size really matters.
Well I paid the price, but the main thing is that now it seems that I solved the problems, so very soon I am going to be in the market.
