HI there Mead Folks,

I started a raspberry melomel. The recipe gives me how many days to wait until I add the raspberry puree, but no SG. I'd rather judge by SG. Does anyone have any advice?

Here's the recipe and info.

15 lb clover honey, dissolved in slightly warm water to 5 gal, with 10 g Go-Ferm, 0.75 t Pot Bicarbonate and 8 g MT yeast. SG = 1.110.

On day 2, I added 1 t Fermaid K and 1.5 t DAP. I plan to repeat that on day 4.

The recipe says after 2 weeks, add a 96 oz can of raspberry puree and 10 g pectic enzyme....this is the stage I'd like to have an SG for.

I plan to leave it a little off dry.

Thanks for any advice!

Are you using the same yeast as what the recipe recommended? I ask because different yeasts will ferment at different rates most likely. If you are using the same yeast, then the "add at two weeks" recommendation is what I'd do.

Hi bmwr75, the MT yeast is one of three recommended...Narbonne was another...so they'll probably vary a little. I'll probably go along with the recipe.
