Another interesting article, but nothing really new. What really caught my eye here was the statement:
"The parasites reportedly spread to Hawaii only last week."
What the blue bloody hell happened that an island, well outside of the furthest possible flight range of the most exceptional bee, got infested by a plague that is extremely well documented???? Who screwed that one up?????
I was surprised to learn that fruit flies have more protective genes than the bees. Shall we start working on genetically modified bees and give them more protective genes? Seems like a good idea to me, or better than the alternative of a complete wipeout of the workhorse of the agriculture business!
