Yay, I saw that yesterday! Couldn't figure out how to post it so it referred to that exact strip though.
 
I was unable to find anything quickly on the artists who do Two Lumps but I do regularly read a couple of the comics that they have posted links to and some of those artists (like Jennie Breeden of Devil's Panties) are into gaming and ren faires and stuff so it's not surprising that a mention of mead would eventually come out in webcomics. Which makes the bunch of us think, "Hey, cool! Mead got a mention!!" and perhaps makes people who don't know what it is go look it up and maybe even try some. :)
 
Found another one! I was just re-reading Girl Genius (which I do every few years) and found a bottle of "One Mean Mead" (bottom right panel).

Edit: it's worth checking out the next page too, the names on the bottles are hilarous!
