This isn't so much about 'seasonal' or 'holiday' style beers as I'm not much of a holiday or seasonal kinda' beer enthusiast - I brew the styles of beer I like and drink them throughout the year - regardless of the season. I found out a little over two weeks ago from my wife that we were going to be hosting Christmas this year and my kegs were, for the most part, running on empty !!!

Needless to say, I had my work cut out for me. So, over the course of the past two weeks, I went on a marathon brewing session of sorts and brewed 6 different styles of beer that will be ready, fully carbed and conditioned, come Christmas day. Here is what I made:

11/14/2008 - Cream Ale (will be dispensed out of my nitro tap - the first non-stout to do so)

11/16/2008 - Honey Weizen (made with raw sage blossom honey)

11/21/2008 - Blonde Ale

11/22/2008 - Honey Porter (made with raw mesquite honey)

11/26/2008 - Irish Red Ale

11/28/2008 - Pale Ale

So there you have it. What have you other gotmead.com beer brewers made for the upcoming Christmas season?

Wow, can I come to your house?

After a move-related hiatus, I am excited to brew tomorrow. I plan to do a GF version of evenstill's Chocolate Coffee Stout. Let's hope it works. ???

You're more than welcome akueck - better be quick though because like I said, there are a LOT of beer drinkers in my family!!!

I vow never to be without beer again!!! I am planning on brewing several others starting next weekend to have in reserve so that when one keg becomes empty, I just need to rack a finished beer out of a secondary carboy into it (after I clean and sanitize it of course). I have the grain bills for an Oatmeal Stout, a Bavarian Hefeweizen, and a Braggot which I am planning on bulk-aging for at least a full year. That one will be ready for Christmas 2009!

10 gallons American Blonde Ale (Sunsplash retired)
5 gallons Porter (Catamount clone)
5 gallons Dunkelweizen (my own recipe)

5 gallons Baltic Porter (Okocim clone)
5 gallons Triple Abbey Ale (local recipe)
3 gallons Oatmeal Stout (Samuel Smiths clone)

Porter (my recipe, very similar to Black Butte Porter).

Most to be consumed by myself, the wife and the father-in-law...since my current friends drink the really cheap crap.

Picked up the supplies to brew to batches of Robust Porter this weekend...these will be bottled and most likely make a trip North in February ;)

Did a couple beers in anticipation of holiday parties.

11/22 Oatmeal Stout
11/26 Roggenbier

I also have in bottles
Mild
2 different IPAs
Scottish 80/-

Its not a huge volume but should be sufficient for my needs. I don't brew light colored beers so i can't really say there is something for every one available but I learned long ago to not brew something I wouldn't drink.

Aging: IIPA - 9%, intense hops.
Ready to drink: Oatmeal Stout.
In fermenters: 10gal strong sweet mead (messed up), 1gal Joe's Ancient Orange Mead, 11gal apple cider. Everything's getting racked to secondaries today.

Planned: A 1gal Fireweed hydromel later today. My sister (!!!!) and I are going to brew a 12.5gal batch at a local brew-it-yourself place near where the rest of my family live. Next month, an IPA, a barleywine (for next fall's drinking, aiming for 11% ABV), and a gluten-free beer.
