First mead, may have screwed up.

As per request my recipe first, problem after..

5 L water (tap)
1,8 kg honey
Port yeast 1 tbs

So, i'm 2 3/4ths months in now and a friend told me to pour the fluid over to another jug minus the bottom 3 or 4 CM's.

i made sure to do as best i could since its my first time. i used a pump i bought.

that same friend told me to add about 5 grams of bentonite to half a liter of water and let that sit for 3 hours. he told me to add it to the mead after so it would clarify.

how long does this take?
its seems to have gone murkier.

i dont know what to do.

Bentonite is basically clay and there no set time. Could take a few days or a week or more just be patient and it will do what it does. Mead is like the Army hurry up and wait.
 
Yup I agree. Just let it sit. Last time I used bentonite it took 2 weeks. But it has cleared in a day before.
Just be patient and try not to drive yourself nuts. Mead just kinda does its thing on its own timeline.
 
If you add bentonite it will turn into what seems white/yellowish mud. This is completely normal and is meant to do that. The clay particles will float around and capture yeast and other debris, making it heavier and drop to the bottom.
