Walmart doesn't have any near me either. Neither does Safeway. Safeway has dozens of millions of bottles of wine. It caries five kinds of sake, but no mead. I've asked about it. They said they'll ask their booze buyer. I'm holding my breath.

BBear,

You're talking about that mysterious place called cyberspace. I'm still lodged in the Real World©, and what's local-yokal. A family-owned chain in town, called Basha's carries Grand Canyon Meadery's Arizona Honey Wine, which ain't bad, but ain't grand. I keep demanding more variety, and they keep ignoring me. It's a game we play. Heh...they're a bunch of cards. I'll keep plugging away. I'll be right smurfed if I don't wear the smurfing smurfers down!

Mark, you can find mead at Total Wine and Whole Foods around Raleigh. I don't know what they have at the moment, it tends to change.

I know I've found Chaucers, Desi Dew (dry mead) and Mountain Meadows around here.

You might try Cary too, they have lots of high-falutin stuff there (I don't get there much).

David, what state do you live in? You might be able to ship.....

Hello everyone, can anyone tell me where to find mead in virginia beach, va? would like to have some for the holidays

I live in Michigan, which is on lock-down for shipping. So if I can't find it by my house, I can't get it. (excluding making my own, of course) :'(

I had to make the trip to North Hills today. The good news is I got my first two bottles of Mead. They had 4 kinds there. I got "Chaucers, Mead and Raspberry Mead". They had another kind there that had a screw top, soa I didn't bother getting any. Next question how am I to drink it? Do I chill it or room temp? One of the bottles had some teabags with some spices and a recpie to make "Hot Spiced Mead" I may try that it's cold here.

Gotmead Webwench, does Desi's Dew sell in a store in or near Wiston-Salem (say Mocksville) ? Raliegh is just to far a drive. I would like to try a couple of their meads. I have not seen it in the stores around here. definately not Wal-Mart, Southern (red neck) Family Market nor the booze stores I have seen in this backward red-neck town. May the gods grant you great brews.

mark
id chill your mead unless you want to use your mulling spices in the tea bag

chaucers is ok chilled in my opion (just ok)
its pretty good warmed and mulled on a colg day (dont let it boil)

ive not had their rasberry mead just the show mead

ive ordered a couple bottles from heidrun meadery the starthistle (which is semi dry and sparkling was awesome)

good luck

Neadmead,

Try looking for it in Whole Foods. I know you can't get Desi's Dew at the grocery stores, but Whole Foods had 2 or 3 different meads last time I was there.

Here's their list of stores in NC:
http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/list_NC.html

They have a store in Winston-Salem, that would be your best bet. Otherwise, hit the Desi's Dew website at http://www.desidew.com/ and have them ship you some. You can do that if it ships in-state.

Anyone near the Triangle in NC can find mead at these locations too:

A Southern Season - Honey Run (Elderberry and Ragnars reserve)

Fowler's (in Durham) - Redstone (Nectars, Traditional and Juniper). They may also have Desi Dew.

Earth Fare (Brier Creek) - Honey Run (Elderberry and Cherry, if I remember correctly)

And don't forget to ASK FOR MEAD!!!! It is the only way we'll get it out there!!!

Gotmead Webwench, Desi's Dew does ship direct in this state. I just placed an order for two bottles from them. ;D I am waiting for them to send the cost via e-mail. I hope to hear by tomorrow. Their ordering method is a little awkward and mildly inconvenient, but for us without credit cards or bank cards it is better than nothing. They do take credit cards too. I ordered one bottle of Royal Table's Dry (still) and one bottle of a melomel, it is their Desi and Jack's Blackberry Mead (still). Thanks on the other information as well. I will look at them some day. May the gods grant you great brews.

CheshireCat, you could order it sent to one of us. We could then, send it to you in another box and label it from Adam's Ribs of Chicago. ;) ;D May the gods grant you great brews.
