Yeah, I looked into this as well. It sounded interesting until I learned that the judging, as well as the subsequent banquet and tasting on the same day, was to be held at the local Lutheran church. Further inquiries showed there were no hotels within walking distance of the event. So that meant that I'd not only have to drive to Shawnee Mission, KS but that I'd also have to limit myself to one glass of wine so I could drive to the hotel afterwards. No thanks. I'll save my money and have a far better time at the next International Mead Festival!
 
The event was brought to my attention by a news letter from my LHBS.

I have only just started to make mead so I of course have nothing to enter, but figured I'd post it here so anyone else with the gumption could.
