An interesting article, but it's not a surprise really.

My father used to keep bee's, and in the winter, he "fed" the hives with a sugar syrup solution. Which seemed to keep the bee's happy, so there's no reason why a candy/sweet factory wouldn't have problems with bee's....

They're just doing the "water thing" and following the easiest route......
