One day wayne i will, one day, i wonder how much flights over to colorado would cost,hotels,food........ mead etc would be a couple of grand i would have thought, dont think my wife would let me just yet, but its definitely on my bucket list!
Mike was the longhair, fairly Norse looking fellow? If so he's a really cool guy, I sat at the table for one or two (can't remember) rounds of judging with him and he seemed like a really nice guy. I remember it was someone from Alaska for sure.
I would also like to attend the MCI one day. I will have to wait, though, as my meads are rather oaky, so the oak tannins need to evolve for a bit with some bottle or bulk aging. At least, that's the feedback I've got so far from some wine industry people here (i.e. sommeliers, etc) who tried my mead. Still, there is the fact that Colorado is rather distant from Chile ;D
RightHookCook, maybe you could check whether there are meads on show in the yearly London Wine Trade Fair. I visited it several times when I was living in the UK and I got to try a staggering variety of drinks, including sherries, ports, madeiras, etc. If they have meads, you could try them in order to widen your "mead comparison spectrum"
