Hello Everybody!

There's a SMEs' contest here in Nicaragua, the winner will receive few bucks as price.

The main criteria are:

  • New Job's potential
  • Market Potential

I had cover the first and partially the second one.

The second one basis is wine consumption in central america

I have wine consumption in the USA

But it will be interesting to them the answer of next questions:

How many meaderies were in the US in 2000 and how many are now?

How many liters of mead is the average produce each meadery yearly?

How much does the average 0.75 bottle of mead cost ?

Saludos

I really have no idea what the average production volume is. Maybe someone that recently worked on a business plan has a better idea. My unscientific guess on price would be $15/750ml. I've seen Oliver Camelot Mead for less than $10 in Chicago. Wild Blossom, B.Nektar and Redstone are closer to $17, with some barrel aged stuff going for more. I think I payed around $15 for a mead from White Winter, but again they have some that are more expensive.

I didn't see Isaaks of Salem on the list, so there can definately be more out there.

Good enough. Thank you.

The AMMA has its own domain now. This list can be found here http://www.meadmakers.org/meadmakers.htm and is a much more complete listing with 143 Mead Makers at the time of this comment. There are a half dozen Mead Makers on the list Noe posted that are not on the AMMA list...yet.

We (The Brimming Horn Meadery) aren't legal yet! We're still in the process of saving up the money and getting our purpose built garage finished! Right now we make a lot and tweak recipes and "make" all our friends taste test. :D
