Hi,

To make measuring out the meta easier can I take out 50ml of mead, add in my 1/4tsp of meta, stir well then add in 10ml of mead/meta mix to my mead? If that makes any sense!

Sure. That works. Not sure how that makes it any easier. But that works fine. I just weigh mine in a glass and then add a splash of warm water to dissolve it and dump it in a stir
 
More than 40 % or so binds in the first addition. I use 1/4 tsp, or more per 5-6 gallons. If I have not racked it at all I'm not concerned at all to add more.
