Hello all. Tonight I opened my bottle of the above said "Semi-Dry" mead, and here's my impression. Good nose
, and there's a distinct Wildflower Honey taste (yes, I know my honey varietals and there is a striking similarity to the wildflower honey I have gotten from the guy who I get my beekeeping supplies from). However, there's also a distinct "plastic" or "artificial" taste that made me cringe with each sip
. Not sure if this is due to the Semi-Dry nature and me learning that I prefer sweet meads, or if it IS a 'plastic' taste. They do use plastic corks...BRB....nope, not that, I just chewed on the cork and no plastic taste there.
I'm going to let it breathe a while and I'll report back later. Also, to be as fair as possible, it looks like I'll have to go back to the store and buy another bottle of semi-dry Mead and see if the off taste is due to my own personal preference as opposed to a true, "off" taste.
