There are several meaderies in Colorado. I would LOVE to take a trip there to go mead tasting at all of them!!! I have not tried mead from this particular meadery, but they got some great press coverage here! Good for them! ;D

Great link JamesP, I have not tried there mead but went to a meadery in my area 2 weeks ago the mead was good but was disapointed in the cyser, and melomels. I may have to see if I can get a bottle or 2 of there mead and give it a try.
 
Been there. THe meads are ok.

He ferments too quickly, his meads are not clear.

But, that said, he does a pretty good job. I stop in there whenever I visit my brother in Boulder.

I believe the Rocky Mountain mead was the first one my wife and I ever tried. Having no previous mead experience we absolutely loved them! The meads were on sale at a liquor store in Windsor, CO. We bought a couple of bottles, drank one in the hotel room, then I went across the parking lot to get a few more!

They had a wide selection of meads, all with names like "King Arthur" and "Camelot". I don't remember all the varieties, it was actually a little confusing for a beginner. I did get the idea that some were dry, semi-dry, sweet, and some were fruit meads, if I recall correctly (I would identify them as melomels, now, I suppose).

Say what you will about their product, but the Rocky Mountain Meads got me started on the wonderful quest for mead, and will always be the first one for me!
 
I visited the Rocky Mountain Meadery in Dec.'96, about a year or two after it opened. At the time, I thought they made the best commercial mead I had tasted. I don't know what I'd say now though.

I spoke briefly with the owner on the phone since he wasn't in the shop when I was there. He said they had researched everything thoroughly before going into operation. As far as he knew, they hadn't made any serious mistakes. He said business has steadily grown from day one.
