Hey Mead Makers....

what are the shelf life of common items used in mead making? I'm actually really curious about fermaid-o and go-ferm, what are their shelf lives?

I ask, cause I'm still using the botom portion of 1lb of fermaid-o (1/2lb of goferm) that has been here for near a year, and who knows how long it was around before I purchased it.

so that got me thinking on other items we use... how about fermaik-k? yeast packets? dap? potasium sorbate? potasium metabisulfite?

lets assume everything is store in optimum conditions. such as yeast in a fridge; chemicals in a air tight conainer.

thanks People

Yeast would be my only concern. If you store you stuff in snap tight container,(Tupperware) it will keep a good while. Over a year is fine for food. Maybe 2 years for stabilizing agents.
I try not to keep yeast more than 6 months. If you live where it's quite humid. It can get moist enough it cause yeast to believe they should try to become rehydrated. And they get sort of messed up that way.
