I am only a beginning mead maker, and have no experience with wine. However, there is a winery down the road from me, and I went there to ask if they would sell yeast. They guy actually gave me a few grams for free, and I gave him my cell number. He said (after I told him I'd be interested in learning about wine) that I can come down and he'll show me what's what.
