As someone who love gadgets and technology ~ for making tasks easier, and appreciates a well thought out design, I offer the following. Specifically to those with deep pockets or who brew lots more beer than mead, I just ran across this Brew-Magic 'Chill-Wizard" from Sabco.

from the Sabco's site ~
The clear majority of brewers have serious issues with their current wort chillers.

Chillers, because of their closed design, tend to be difficult to clean
There is no built in method for adjusting flow rate to adjust for exchange water temperature
None can give the brewer feedback regarding current efficiency
Most owners wish to inject Oxygen into the wort flow requiring another add-on
Most brewers utilize a pump to push wort to a filter and fermenter. More cleaning.
None have a gauge to determine outbound wort temperature.
None combine all components into a neat portable unit.
Brewers must clean each of the above components separately.
None have 'CLEAN-IN-PLACE' (CIP) capability...

BREW-MAGIC 'CHILL-WIZARD', eliminates all of the above problems !

Cheers,
Wrathwilde

Specifically to those with deep pockets...
???

I guess so! It looks like a nice device but I can buy a whole lot of water for my $25 immersion chiller for $829! And it would only save me what? 10-15 minutes per batch?

It would be cool to have though...

I used to use a variation on that in a microbrewery operation. It was excellent for transfering one or two 50L kettles and then you'd need to clean out the filter bag or it would clog up. We couldn't have possibly brewed without one.

With mead, I'm not heating, but if I ever find myself producing beer in mass quantities again I'd do the same - a heat exchanger, a pump, and an inline filter that is easy to remove and clean - also all stainless steel pipes and fittings - no plastic if possible. (looks like plastic tubing on this one with hot wort?)

The filter was the most beneficial feature of the one I used (besides the throughput) though I can't see one in the picture or description here. It looks more aimed at the (wealthy) hobby brewer that loves gadgets; I think you'd have to use it a lot to get value from it other than cool factor. Interesting.

Yikes. The next version should ferment, carbonate, and pour the wort (now beer) into a glass for you. That might be worth $400. Wait, how much is this?

Now if you piped water into one end and dumped your grains in the top and an hour later you have beer coming out the other end, that would be something. Wait! No it wouldn't, it would be Bud Lite
