I know that some of the Ren Fayre types like them.

To my mind they're too Hollywood !

There's a greater likelihood that the original drinking vessels would have been ceramic or wood, depending on origin of peoples and location etc......

If you wanna use a horn then that's brilliant.....

These are not very big. 1/2 a cup fills them up. Not my choice for normal use, but sometimes "Hollywood" is apropos.

Half a cup ? What 4 floz ? so almost a standard "glass" (125mls). So not big but hardly a goats horn.....

Though for "impact" maybe source a horn that holds a "big boys measure" ? A litre :D

Oh and Hollywood is fine......in Westerns........

Nice! :)

The nice thing about having a big horn is that if you only fill it halfway, it doesn't slosh out if you walk around with it on your belt ;D

The nice thing about havng a small horn is you don't go blind stinking drunk if you have to empty it :p

Crafty looking horns for sure.

I am sure you could drink your fill from one of these guys.

I have this form sizes that hold around 800ml or 2 1/2 cups which are too heavy.

These were prototypes to see how it went. The problems with these as functional drinking vessels are you can not put them down until they are emptied and the color quality of the mead is hidden

Same problems with any horn, if I had a smaller one I'd make a table stand for it (little wood stand with a hole drilled in it, maybe several holes if I had a set of horns), but the big one as long as it's not completely full, can stay on my hip holster relatively safely as long as I don't sit in a chair with arms. I'm guessing mine would hold a full bottle of wine, or would have if i hadn't filled the bottom couple inches with beeswax (didn't want to have to worry about cleaning the parts I can't see since stuff that sits around unused for more than a month in my house tends to end up with an opportunistic spider in it). But actual horn is significantly lighter than ceramics! I'd probably go with medieval style clay mugs if I still had access to clay, mead tastes great in a mug!

Wouldn't want to drown one accidentally... I prefer to relocate them around the house to control the fruit flies :)
