Man, I really wish I had known about this website sooner. My wife and I have been busting our butts for over a year now to get our meadery started. It looks like our hard work has finally paid off. A couple weeks ago, we were contacted by the State of Michigan and told that our application for our wine makers license has been approved. This is great news!

We received our federal license in Aug/Sept, our local city approval in November, and finally the State!

We just took possession of the winery location (there's a long story about that), and we're beginning our very minimal build-out in two weeks.

Way to go, Brad!! I'm glad that it's all finally come together!!! You deserve to tip back a few glasses after all that!

BTW - Brad has shared his saga with me, and it certainly was a birthing process. If he has enough energy to type it all down, I think he should share it with everyone (hint!). :drunken_smilie:

Thanks Wayne. Right now I'm packing a bag with my wife (taking a short break) to bring to the hospital (our first child is due any day now). I'd be happy to tell all I can about our experiences, but it will have to wait for later.

A towhead refers to a person with light blond hair. My brother and I were towheads when we were kids. I thought it would be cool to use the name in a mead. I want to use an old picture of us fishing or something on the label. Yea, I know. Real sappy sentimental stuff. :)

Hey Brad!

Welcome to Got Mead!

Congrats on opening the Meadery. Glad to see you found your way to Got Mead! You'll find a lot of interesting stuff here that will help you ratchet up your mead knowledge and techniques.

Best of luck!
