White winter Winery Dry Mead: Purchased June 2005, cellared in my basement out of the light and as consistant temperature as I can manage. Typically 60-65 degrees.
Appearance: Very pale gold - almost white. Coats the glass thinly - sheets on the glass rather than developing legs when swirled around the glass.
Bouquet: Very pleasant floral/honey aroma. I could not detect alcohol, or any off odors.
Dry yet almost presenting the barest hint of residual sweetness. Very pleasant at first sip, alcohol burn noted mid palate, finishing tart at the back and sides of the tongue.
This is overall a very refreshing dry mead. The tartness almost tends toward a bitterness at the end but it is not objectionable.
I give this one a tumbs up.
