Seems a bit odd to talk about a "shortage" with regard to wine. Wine is not needed by society in X amount to keep things running like wheat, corn, or copper.
If demand increases relative to supply, prices will rise and everybody will drink a little less wine. Then a bunch of aspiring vintners will plant their vineyards and five years later supply will soar relative to demand and they won't make as much money as they hoped. With a discretionary good like wine there is never a real shortage, just economics at work.
But yes, a good time to get more mead on the market...

This just makes me more angry that Ontario makes it so damn difficult to have a winery or meadery...
The arrogance of control freak politicians.......
IMO, politicians should be selected a bit like jury service. Sure there should be some selection criteria, so you don't end up with the village idiot, who'd need professional advisers and you wouldn't want those to be the same arrogant, ignorant twisters who seem to run things ATM...
Lousy politicians aside, they're still stuck with what those before them decided. And I'm sure the laws made sense at the time.
