Hi all. I’m just wondering if anyone knows if B. Nektar changed their Zombie Killer Cherry Cyser. I ask because the last two bottles that I had were way more “white winey” tasting. Normally, there is a lot more cherry flavor and smell. They were also pretty cloudy; not the nice clear reddish color that I am used to. Is it possible that I just got a few bad bottles? That would make sense, seeing how I bought them all from the same place.

Thanks

Fisk,
If you could ask, that would be cool. Like I said, I’m just wondering if I got a few bad bottles.

I just had a bottle last week and it was nice. I just thought it had a bit of an artificial taste to it. That's either a ringing endorsement or a horrible insult, if you know what I am getting at. I suspect it's the former.

Cherries are weird. I made cherry wine with 4 lb per gallon and it tastes like nothing, and years later I had some that a friend of my in-laws had made and it had that hint of cough syrup. Maybe it was just the batch of cherries...

And then there's that batch where it's so well balanced it tastes like fake cherries...or in other words, it's so good it must be fake...

I have been to B.Nektar about 6 times in the past month, I can attest that it is not a "fake" taste. The cherry juice comes in industrial pallet sized containers, the honey in 55 gal drums. I have seen the production facility for all of the carbonated meads and all the ingredients for them as well, the "tasting room" is really just a corner of the facility in which there is a tap head with 5 or 6 taps on it atop a large refrigerated roll about refridgerator. They play music or movies on a large projector and there is seating for roughly 20.

I asked the mead filler-upper-guy Jeff last night is anything was changed in recent batches and he said no, but he did say the juice does vary from batch to batch as the suppliers may vary sources or what have you. In fact, they bottled on a Friday a few weeks ago, lets just say the leftovers were good :)

That's kind of what I was thinking. I gotta say, they have the whole thing down...not just nice mead but the marketing. Those labels are awesome. Someone to emulate for those of you wanting to go pro.
