SG = Specific Gravity
FG = Final Gravity
OG = Original Gravity
The difference between your Original Gravity and your Final Gravity (as measured with a hydrometer) is used to calculate the % alcohol. ABV = Alcohol By Volume.
BJCB = Beer Judge Certification Program. Here is the BJCB Style Guide that provides the guidelines for judging of beers, meads and ciders. Meads are defined in guidelines 24-26.
YAN = Yeast Available Nitrogen.
Just a quick correction. The "A" stands for "Assimilable," as in "Yeast Assimilable Nitrogen." (not that it matters all too much for our purposes)
