Can real fruit be used to back sweeten instead of honey, and if so, how long would you need to let the fruit sit for it to sweeten up? Thanks.

Yes of course. 2 weeks is generally enough in my opinion. A third week would also be ok.
 
Thanks. I was about 95% sure you could, but wasn't sure about the length of time to leave it in there. I split my banana buckwheat honey mead in half and added .25lb of honey to one half and wanted to add another banana to the other. Looking forward to how it turns out.
