I was heading out to clean out the 3 carboys I had soaking outside for a day and was met with a ghastly sight. There, lying in the remains of what used to be a 5 gallon carboy was the handle that used to decorate its neck. Nearby were the remains of the twin 3 gallon carboys, the adhesive thermometer resting on shattered glass the only way to tell them apart.

I know this could have been avoided, it was a lapse of judgment on my part. I didn't think to check the night temps and if I had, would never have put the innocent vessels in any type of danger.

I'm glad they didn't break while you were around! I was worried from your title.

Ouch!

Do you have spares?

AtoE, yep they were filled to the brim, but only one shattered. The bottoms of the other two were busted out.

Socpsy, the only carboy I have left is a 5 gallon that has a wildflower/blackberry honey traditional aging in it.
