I have been using an old formula to find my ABV. I got it from First steps in winemaking by C.J.J Berry. Written in the sixties i believe and in england. So here is my formula S.G - F.G divided by 7.36
I was just wondering what every one else was using to find their ABV
 
Most hydrometers have a potential alcohol scale on them as well. Subtracting your final reading from the original one gives you a pretty close measure.

14%-2%=12%

Nothing more simple.
 
My formula is:

((OG - FG) * 105) = ABW
((ABW) * 1.25) = ABV

For those of you interested in this sort of thing I have a WSDL Web service that you are more than welcome to use. It is standard SOAP/WSDL so you should be able to write a client in any language that supports that.
