I haven't made enough batches to experiment, but I've been getting an impression, from reading other forum member's posts on the subject, that Joe's Ancient Orange maybe a very versatile mead (actually a spiced melomel ;D ) that pairs with a lot of different foods.

Has this been other people's experience? What have you found to go well with Ancient Orange?

Take your JAO and make a reduction, add a bit of mint to the sauce and then use as a glaze on your next rack of lamb.

Cheers

A thirst? And an empty mug...

Drinking good mead out of a mug?! Sheer barbarity. :o ;D

Having it on tap during War is probably barbaric as well (no corks and bottles)... so let's hear it for barbarians! Campfires and a mug of mead really go well together, although I do use wine glasses for the Novice Tasting...

Didn't they behead Marie Antionette for drinking good mead from a wine glass?

A really good English cheddar and some Jacob's Cream Crackers, some grapes, and a nice glass of JAO. They seem to really complement each other. The sweet mead with the salty cheese.

I like to marinade fish in a bit of JAO with salt and a bit of Lemon thyme. Then grilled over a charcoal fire with some of my used oak sticks/cubes.

Serve with a large goblet of nicely chilled sweet JAO.

...now I'm hungry...
