My furnace stopped working the other day. I realized that while on my way out of the house to take my wife to a doctor's appointment. And I spent the couple of hours I was sitting around waiting for her worrying about how much this was going to cost me.
So we got back, called a repairman, and I worried some more while I waited for him to arrive. After he got there and went down into the basement, he looked at the five carboys lined up aging there and asked, "What are you making?"
"Mead," I said and we were well on our way to becoming friends. Turned out his father made wine and he'd fooled around a little with making beer. We talked about mead for awhile, I gave him a bottle to take home, and he gave me a great price on the repair work.
And I have heat again!
