So I'm new to mead making. I stupidly forgot to take the original gravity measurement so I can't calculate it that way. I saw a post that said they had 12 lbs of honey in a 5 gallon batch and someone commented saying that would equal out to about 12% ABV normally. My batch is a 1 gallon batch with 3 lbs of honey, 1 orange, and 1 cup of blackberries. I know the fruits don't account for much, but average how much would this mead have for a ABV %

Different honeys contain different amounts of sugar so it won't be 100% accurate, but it'll give you an idea

it seems http://gotmead.com/mead-calculator.html isn't calculating anything after I put my information into all the needed fields. Calculate button doesn't seem to do anything for me.
Understanding gravity points is fairly simple. It's all about pounds and gallons. Different sugar sources add varying levels of gravity to your mead, beer, wine, etc., per pound. Then you divide that number by how many gallons you have after the addition.
For instance, honey adds around 38-39 points per pound. If you end up with one gallon after adding 1 pound of honey, your SG just went up by exactly 38-39 (depending on variety of honey) points. Example, water (SG 1.000) with one pound of honey will have an SG of 1.038 - 1.039.
So if your volume increases, you divide the points added by the total gallons. So if you have mixed one pound of honey with water up to 2 gallons total, now your SG will be cut in half because the gravity points added (38-39) are spread out into two gallons of water instead of one. In this case, SG will be around 1.019.
More complex example: 7.5 pounds of honey mixed with water up to 4.5 gallons would be: 7.5 x 38 / 4.5, or 1.063.

I was referring to the link that's been the "go-to" link for the "broken" link at the top of the page. They take you to two different places. I know your fix works, already tried it.
