I noticed that in the Twin Cities (minneapolis/st.paul) many bars serve atleast one beer that is made on site. I understand of course that with bars the rules on what people can take home (or licencing for it at the least, not to mention shipping...) make it far different from actually opening a Meadery, but not half far. Anyone considered this?
 
I am sure that each state varies some, but I have found that the rules for operating a micro-brewery or brew-pub are quite different from the operating rules for a micro-winery.

I know this is a hugely generalized statement, but the in-depth details are just that... buried in the murk of Federal and State regulations.

The regs might vary from county to county as well. Montgomery County in Maryland, from my understanding, all brew pubs have to sell their beer to the county, buy it back so they can sell it in house, all occurring with out the beer leaving the premises. Odd I tell you!!

At least we can home brew more than 5 gallons at once!!
