Ok, I've just spent about 15 minutes with the search tool to find a thread where one of the mentors explained the math behind doing a boil test to determine actual alcohol content and I can't bloody well find it. Can someone please suggest what search terms might make the infernal tool spit it out?

I also got there with a simple advanced search on the three words Boil Alcohol Percent

D'oh!!

Answered my own question 5 minutes later, search terms "determine alcohol content", if only I'd remembered ebulliometry and spirit indication. Thanks to Medsen's link to vinocalc, I know for sure what the actual SG is of my fortified acerglyn is! Plus or minus about two percent, near as I can figure, given errors reading the SG and errors in reconstituting my sample ...

Now I'm starting to understand the errors in estimated alcohol content based on SG readings, I think the ethanol content affects the readings enough to make a difference... Woo-hoo, 18% (+/- 2%)
