I'm thinking about trying a blueberry BOMM. Would I be able to ferment it in a bucket to allow room for the blueberries, then rack it into the secondary once it's ready? Also, would a smack pack work for 2 gallons, or do I need a starter for anything more than one?

Works great in a bucket. I've done many batches this way. For 2 gallons, a smack pack will work, but it might take a bit to get started. A starter or 2 packs would be better.

I often reuse the cake and just use the same amount of chems. Works great even without adding another pack.
A previous yeast cake plus double nutrients will work great. No additional smack pack necessary.

1 gallon pails 6 times Manny? I would think the yeast would mutate after some time, as it apparently does in continuous fermentation setups
