I find that homebrew lasts longer than commercial, but it all depends on your definition of "keep". Commercial beer is packaged to be consistent, and will have an "expiration" of about when the intended flavor profile doesn't hold anymore. Homebrew will change over time as well, but since it has less of a need to taste one and only one way, it "keeps" longer. I also feel like having yeast in the bottle keeps things from going south longer, but it might all be in my head. I've drank 4% abv beer that I made after a year in the bottle. It tasted fine.
