Could anyone tell me what the measurement of 1KG of dextrose would be in cups or mL? and what would be the equivalent volume of honey?

1KG of dextrose would be the equivalent of 2.225 pounds dextrose. You can't reliably convert between volume and mass measurements. Differences in the "grind" or particle size, how densely it is packed, how it's packaged, stored and prepared, etc. will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and time to time.

For example, take a cup of flour from a canister with a single scoop. Now tap it and tamp it down. Is the volume the same? No. Now sift it. Is your volume the same as before? No. Does it weigh the same? Yes.

Volume is fine for most liquids since they are relatively incompressible but when dealing with solids, powders or granules, Mass is the way to go.

Seriously, check out the kitchenware aisle at your local supermarket. I'll bet you can find a scale for cheap that will get you by.

I think i will be doing that. But in the meantime I'm making a honey beer and the recipe calls for 1 kg of dextrose, does anyone know what the equivalent amount of honey would be?

Honey is roughly 80% sugar by weight. Thus, 1.25 kg of honey should contain about 1 kg of sugar (a mix of glucose and fructose, mostly). As far as I can tell, dextrose is glucose. 1.25 kg of honey is nearly a quart (7 cups or so, give or take a little).

Weight is definitely the way to go, but 7 cups of honey should give you nearly the right amount.

I think that the 1.25 Kg is close, but I think the cup conversion might be a bit off.

1.25 Kg = 2.755 lbs

1 Gallon of Honey is approximately 12 lbs

There are 16 cups in a gallon.

So 12 lbs / 16 cups yeilds approximately .75 lbs per cup so 7 cups would be approximately 5.25 lbs or almost double what we need.

3 2/3 cups * .75 lbs per cup = 2.745 lbs, which is probably close enough since approximating anyway.
