I've got a pilsner in bottles that unfortunately didnt turn out as good as I had hoped....

I'ts not terrible, but definitely not going to win any awards and I have other stuff that I'd rather be drinking. On the other hand, I'm definitely not one to waste some homebrew! So does anyone have some favorite food recipes with beer as an ingredient that you'd like to share?

Specifically I'm looking for recipes using a light beer like this pilsner, but if you have others that are good too I'd like to know about them for future reference!

Personally, I would A) drink 6-9 pints of what you consider to be one of your good beers, then B) start drinking the Pilsner that you don't think is that good. Repeat steps A & B until all your Pilsner has been consumed. Sorry I don't have any recipes other than beer-batter.

Beer brats! Pour some beer into one of those disposable metal trays you can cook a turkey in. Insert bratwurst, let soak. Cook brats on grill. Yummy!

A friend also mixes beer into his burgers and adds pretzels to help hold it all together.

Basically you can't go wrong mixing beer with grilled food. ;D
 
fork steak
2 12 oz. steaks any cut will do
1/2 cup of crush garlic
1 medium white onion
6 white mushrooms
bell peppers for color
balsamic vinegar
seasoned salt
black pepper


take 2 table spoons of garlic and rub into the steak, both sides
then rub with seasoned salt and black pepper, both sides
pour the 1/4 cup of balsamic vinegar over your steaks and work it in a bit
chop your onion and add about 1/2-3/4 cup to your dish
pour about 1/4 can of beer, so lets call it a 1/4 cup, enjoy the rest
strategically place your mushrooms around so that they are pleasing to the eye, skater your sliced bell peppers likewise
cover your dish and cook at 400 for 45 min to one hour
should be tender enough to cut with a fork

Burgers on the grill, chicken on the grill, brats on the grill........pretty much anything that can be cooked using one hand allowing the other one to hold the beer.

I do something similar with burgers as mentioned above. I usually use the left over "American Lagers" people leave at my house to make a killer burger.

take this recipe and multiply it per pound of berger you're cooking

1/4 cup beer
1 teaspoon chipoltle
1 tablespoon chile powder
1 slice cheese (cheddar best)


put the berger in a big bowl, add the beer, chipoltle and chile powder
mix it as little as possible but get the chile powder and chipoltle spread through it good

cut the meat in half
make thin patties with half the meat
place a piece of cheese in the middle of each patty
make matching thin patties with the rest of the meat
place them on top of the others and squish the outside together to make one burger

4 minutes on each side on med/high grill

Best Burgers Ever!

Open bottle of Braggot, dress burger as you see fit, and enjoy
 
Make a marinade with it or use it to thin out your BBQ sauce, make some beer bread. Or boil your brats in it, or use it to attract slugs in your hop garden.
 
My wife and I like to make a stew out of leftover roasted chicken. We call it "Chicken Beer Soup." It's pretty simple:
  • Some leftover chicken
  • One chopped onion
  • A few chopped potatoes
  • A few chopped carrots
  • Chicken broth (around 2 cups)
  • A bottle of beer
  • Pinch of dried thyme
  • Pinch of dried rosemary
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Put all chopped ingredients, herbs, and seasonings in pot.
Add Beer.
Add enough broth to cover everything.
Simmer until carrots and potatoes are cooked.
Enjoy.
 
Beer Can Chicken!!!

Pour some beer over the top and then roast a whole chicken with a can of beer up it's butt!

I guess you could put some veggies in a roasting pan with the chicken, but who eats vegetables anyway?
