I brew beer and am looking to get into mead making as well - both of my own interest and to have a little more to offer my friends when I go to Renaissance Faires, SCA events, and for general drinking purposes. Temperature control has always been a major issue as I live in Southern California and as it looks like mead needs to age at around 60 degrees for a long period I need ideas. My home tends to be in the 70s (we aim for the lower end but bit does get hotter at times) and ideally I'd like to find a way to do something to reliably cool a large number of small batches - five to ten one gallon batches would be just about ideal for my event busy season I think. I'd prefer to avoid having to buy a new fridge if I can, but if there's one that's fairly low in terms of electricity price that can fit five+ one gallon batches plus whatever else needs cooling I might consider it.
