Hey all.

In early June I'll be enterring two meads into the Meridian Kindom A&S Competition.

These is the first time I've competed in brewing, and was wondering if anyone has any sample documentation. I have my reference materials and such, but I'm curious about length and format.

Val,

A very detailed brewlog that includes everything you did to your batch is a good start. If you followed a historical recipe, and can provide a copy of it that will earn you points as well. I'm going to email one of the Members for further info... so stay tuned.

OK Val, Here's the response I got...

"For top marks (10) on documentation your firend will need to provide documentation like you would for any Kingdom level A+S. AS much period documentation as possible. We also MUST see your recipie included. The more documentation about the recipie and beverage the better. You can also incude sites, books, footnotes,.... all that fun stuff. Might not be a bad idea to either be willing to part with that copy of documentation or bring one that a judge can take home with them. I've seen judges wish they could have taken docs with them.

If he treats the entry like a Kingdom Level A+S he should do well. Thanks for the question.

Wish me luck. The faire is in June. I post once it's over and let everyone know how I do.
 
I said I'd post the results, so here they are.

The scoring was out of 20 points, an average entry is about a 10 or a 12.

My herbal scored a 15, my metheglin a 17, with overwhelmingly positive comments from the judge and assorted "tasters".

Critisisms centered on documentation and clarity.
 
No, I won't be making it this year, but I'm planning on next year for sure.
