Knowing there are a number of Reenactors and SCA members amoung our ranks, others besides myself must have some nice cutlery. I'd like to see your favorite knife/knives and here a bit about them.
My favorites;
The Mail-Piercing (chainmail) dagger has a 12" blade and ballach style handle overall it's 17 5/8" long. The Fan is 9" long (including catch) & 14" wide, the dagger is 12 1/4" long with a 6 1/8" blade. Overall length with the blade concealed in the fan is 14 1/2" Both of these pieces are handmade reproductions, with blades forged of high carbon steel by Master Bladesmith Peter Farquhar of Authentic Forgeries.
The third knife dates to the mid 1860's made by E. S. Hulbert & Co. The tang goes half way through the handle, is set with four pins and has a leaded pewter bolster.
The curved dagger is hand forged from Indonesia.
