aloha,
I wanted to refrain from asking a question that might have already been asked so I have used the search feature to the bone before coming to the table. So here we go........I'm going to make my first batch next week using Joe's Ancient Orange recipe. The only augmentation that i am going to make to the recipe will be to increase all the components (except the yeast) to make up a 6 gallon batch.I purchased my first equipment kit and it is composed of a 7.5 gallon plastic primary, and 6 gallon glass carboy.
My question is, can I use the 7.5 gallon plastic bucket as the primary for this recipe?
Or should I use the glass carboy (as directed) as the primary and purchase another carboy to rack into?
Either way I intend to rack into a carboy when fermentation is complete for a little more time to clear and bulk age.
Also, during the beginning stages of fermentation should I be interested in connecting a blow off tube or will the airlock do fine?
Mahalo nui loa for the help,
