Was reading thru the newbee guide again and saw that it was not recommended to freeze apples and citrus. What's the reasoning behind that?

That's a very good question.
I've frozen apples and later squeezed the juice out without problems, and Luc Volders demonstrated that it works nicely. So there is no reason you can't do apples. As for oranges, I've never tried freezing one to see what happens. I've always juiced them and frozen the juice (takes up a lot less space that way). I'm going to go throw an orange into the freezer and see what comes when I thaw it out just for my own education.
