When it was "grapefest" time in september, we averaged 3.5 boxes (about 9kg) per 25 litre drum, so that'd be about about £28 per drum (about the 45$ area). Once ferment was complete, after both pressing the skins (red wine obviously) and then racking off the gross lees, I'd end up with about 15 litres, so about a 40% loss in volume from the raw, pressed/de-stemmed grapes........

So I'd have thought that price wasn't too bad at all.

You'd still end up with near enough the same volume (a little loss from racking etc)......

You got robbed then;). Cos it only cost Mad Keith $70 to ship me a gallon of OK wild flower honey...........

A damn sight heavier than a pair of shoes I'd have thought ;D

On a more serious note, it does seem that it's cheapest to use USPS. So as long as it doesn't have to get there quickly (and speed is a premium product according to FedEx, UPS, DHL, TNT, etc), then while it's not cheap, it's certainly more reasonable.......
 
I always ship marinade using the usps. And vinegar samples as well.
