Is that dark shadow the previous owner of my house drinking my mead or darker mead due to settling?

Yea, just settling, that layer will migrate down, sometimes quite slowly. then it will sit at that hazy, translucent stage until one day you notice that it is still translucent but has taken on a polished appearance (can't describe it very well) and that means (at least so far in mine) that it's about to drop clear in surprisingly short order
 
Thanks! I thought it was strange since I hadn't seen that with the JAOM and the 3787 mead isn't dong that
