I just got this here com-pooter thingy last august( for playing poker...I know how to do that.)and never owned one before. I am learning slowly to use it and have managed to create a house logo (Rose and Blade Meadwerks) but so far haven't sucessfully sent it to the avatar section of my profile.
Please assume that I am a completely computer illiterate and baby step me through the process.
I have tried sending the image to a Kodak gallery and entering the address in the proper field in my profile , but that didn't work. Using Adobe it is in jpg format(whatever that is) Maybe I can get it here from my files.......
I can't seem to insert it here, either.
I have both Adobe photo shop and ACDSee for manipulating and sending stuff, but obviously have not mastered or even minored them.

Thanks in advance,

Will.

wilstang,

Try using photoshop to reduce your picture to 100x100 pixels, or less.

1st - Open your image file in photoshop
2nd - From the upper menu select (image), as the drop down menu activates... select (image size).
3rd - Make sure that the [Constrained Proportions] box is checked.
4th - Change the dimensions so that the largest dimension, whether it is the height or width, is no more than 100 pixels. The other dimension will adjust automatically. Click (OK).
5th - Save the new file to your desktop for easy retrieval for the next step.
6th - Go to http://picserver.student.utwente.nl/ to create a free account and upload your file.
7th - Pic server gives you several options, but since you have already cropped you pic to size, click on 100% and it will display the page you need to reference for your Avatar. Highlight and copy the web address for your 100% image
8th - Come back to Gotmead, Click on your member name from an old post to bring up your profile.
9th - Under Modify profile click on (Forum Profile Information)
10th - Make sure the I have my own pic [ O ] circle is selected and paste the web address for your 100% pic on the top line.
11th - Scroll down the page and click (Change Profile) and your done ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for the help. Unfortunatly the image gets too blurry when reduced. For future reference, what kind of image is best? Starting with more or less pixels, more or less resolution? I'll try to post a link on the photo page to show it off.
