In the southeastern section of Michigan we're pretty much limited to the same old cheap commercial meads no matter where you go. A couple years ago I found a bottle of Jadwiga mead (Apis) in the Merchant of Vino located in Dearborn, MI on Michigan Ave but haven't been able to get there again during business hours because of how far away I live etc. So, I've had every party store I can find look for some decent meads. Jadwiga being the one I really want. Well, now I've got a source for it and it's located in Livonia, MI on Plymouth road. The store is called The Wine Barrel Plus and it's owned by a guy named Mark. Welcome to the Forum JF,

Not to worry in a year or two you'll be brewing better mead than any commercial outfit. That is... If you relentlessly cruise these forums AND decide to take up this wonderful obsession of mead making.

Thanks for the welcome Wrathwilde. I've been home brewing for a while now. I started doing wine with my dad close to 30 years ago and beer with my buddies dad around the same time frame. But I didn't start making it on a regular basis again until about 4 years ago. That's when my interest in making mead got fired up too.
