started first batch. This is day two and just added second dose of nutrient. Don't see any activity. Only thing is everytime I mix (aerate) my must I get a lot of foam up. Is this normal? Is this the lag phase? How long does it usually last until you start seeing bubbling?

The foam up is gas/nitrogen being released from you batch. That is normal. I responded to your previous questions, which you posted in your profile post. You do NOT need to keep stirring your batch (other than a quick stir to mix in the nutrient). Are you using an air lock? Is your batch in a glass carboy or in a bucket, which can leak, so you might not see any bubble in an air-lock....

right now I have large glass container covered with cheese cloth and a rubber band to keep out the bugs. On top of that I have the lid resting on it. Wanted to let the yeast get oxygen in the early stage. Thats the other thing when do I stop stirring and say no more oxygen. I just did my third nutrient feed at 72hour in. Also enough if I don't see bubbles through an airlock shouldn't I see them coming up the insides of the jar?

The container needs to be airtight before you'll see bubbles in an airlock. If your container isn't airtight, you can still see if the yeast is doing what it's supposed to do by taking another gravity reading. If it's going down, the yeast is working.
