Newbee Nutrient Question for BOMM

Apologies if this has been asked before. I am about to make my first mead and I am following the recipe for the 5 gallon BOMM. I have everything I need apart from the GoFerm, Fermaid K and Potassium Carbonate (now that I have written it out it seems like I am missing a lot) which I am having trouble sourcing. Anyway, my question: Is it possible to make a BOMM without these ingredients or should I wait till I can get my hands on them?

If your following the recipe exactly (which you must , otherwise you void the warranty ) you don't really need Goferm. I'm not sure if Bray has changed his protocol. It's been a while sense I read his stuff. I have made a few BOMM's but have used the recipe he had posted a year or so ago. Normally, Goferm is used for dry yeast when you are rehydrating it. Since the 1388 is already alive and growing, and fed due to the smack pact nutrients in the breakable pouch. I don't see the logic in that. You most certaintly want to feed then and buffer upir batch.

Morebeer, or morewine usually has those things. Unless you live in a poedunk town, I would think there would be a LHBS that has those things. Just google it and you find many places that sell those things. I'm sure Bray will come along and give you advise. I would find where to buy your stuff and then wait till he speaks to you about the Goferm. I think you need DAP as well. Just follow his protocol exactly and you'll be fine.

My advice is to wait until you have everything. Proper ingredients that make fast mead puts mead in your belly faster than subpar ingredients and the resulting fuselage mead.

Thank you all for the replies and straight from the source too. I have waited to start and I'm glad that I did. I guess I could try without, but I'm too inexperienced to deal with the problems that would undoubtedly arise. Thanks for the links to the ingredients too! Unfortunately the cost of shipping to Canada is a little extreme so I'll keep looking. There are a couple local shops here in Vancouver that I haven't tried yet.
