Someone asked me about aging mead in an oak barrel and the thought of using oak chips to add the flavor of being oak aged came to mind. Anyone every try it or have an opinion on the idea?
Oskaar would be the guy to answer, I really have never experimented with it. Try using the search function ( the one alongside the login and and profile buttons) and soon enough you'll have more info than you can hope for.
There has been a lot of posting on this subject, and I'll have an article coming out in the next Newsletter (The Buzz About Mead) published by the IMA Home Mead Makers Committee covering aspects of Oak and Aging.
