Excellent! I was goin to do a mix with another juice but I think I'll go 100% Pom now.

It's on my to-do list as well. My father loves pomegranate. It'll have to wait for... shall we say "positive cash flow" though.

When you go to purchase, just be aware that a lot of it is mixed juice... pomegranate and <whatever>. It's hard to tell them apart and the print on the bottle is rather understated. I'm not saying that the blends wouldn't make excellent meads... I'm sure they would. But the choice should be yours, not due to a poor job of labeling.

And please, please, please tell us what recipe you come up with! Inquiring minds want to know! <G>

I've never done a batch, but I've heard color retention is a real problem. Maybe try RC212. Be warned it is a nutrient hog though.

Man was just number crunching with the calculator, does pomegranate actually have that amount of sugar content. Guess ill just have to take a sg before i add my honey.

ha i did notice the diff kinds, but ty for pointing it out.

for a recipe ill prob do my normal basic. 1g pom juice, 3lbs(depending on gravity), pectic enzyme over night and 71B the next day.

So use two large bottles of Pom juice(1.4L each) and 2.5lbs of honey the SG was 1.140. Goin to sit on some pectic enzyme over night with a bit of head space for when it starts to ferment.

I used 71b and it had a bit of a slow start, but on day three it really kicked in and is goin nicely.

McJeff,

How is this one coming along? I'm getting the itch here. Did you go with the pure pomegranate juice or a blend?

I had mentioned it to my father and he's quite eager to go out and buy stuff for it. I've been gifted a bunch of gallon jugs, and have a couple of extra airlocks, soooo.... <grin>

I don't know if I've got any 71b in my yeast cache, but I know I've got K1V. Its my go-to now.

I've been thinking about one of the pom blends, but I'm undecided.

Any/All info appreciated. Hope you're either hunkered down for this storm or out of its way!

Thanks,
Joe
